GU19 Girls bow out in style in their final MB Sand & Surf home game.

It was an emotional night for the ladies of MB Sand & Surf Soccer Club on Sunday 13th November as they embarked upon their final "home" game for the club, under the lights at Village Field against a spirited Santa Monica outfit.

A packed house saw many Sand & Surf families venture the cold evening to say fairwell to the final "original founding" Sand & Surf team as the girl’s prepare to embark on the next phase of their own personal development and careers.

Despite some spirited challenges and a real hunger for success from the girls, the game didn’t start as planned with MB Sand & Surf trailing 3-1 early into the second half.

There was magic in the air however, as a willing crowd and a team destined to go out on a high, committed everything they had to turn the result around....as the clock ticked down Sand & Surf miraculously pulled the game back to 3-3. The atmosphere on the sideline was bouyant as the girls pushed and pushed to get the result they desperately wanted and in the 80th minute Rachel Oster netted a winner that echoed throughout the city Manhattan Beach.

It was a special night for coach of 4 years Kyle Gouveia, who has created a truly outstanding team of exceptional young ladies. As the players put their hands in for one final cheer to celebrate their home fairwell, the cheer was "FAMILY" which provided a suitable and emotional goodbye to a team that has represented the club with great dignity and poise throughout the years.

It should also be noted that the victory cemented the girls in second place in the U19 Silver Elite Division which is even more impressive considering that most of the players are indeed only U17 & 18.

We thank the players for the tremendous path they have paved and wish them the very best of success as they make the next steps into their adult lives!
